My legs aren't as sore today. I was feeling pretty good, but still tired. I did 3 miles this morning again. I didn't intend on running today because I was pretty tired, but I did anyway. I didn't run as much as previous days, however. Just light running! My legs are really beat, though. I tried a fast pace run while coming home. Not too far, just up a long hill and dang my legs were so tired it felt like, even during my fast pace, that I was going in super slow motion. I had no strength! So, that's good.
When I got back, I did my outside weights workout consisting of 30 deadlifts, 20 bench presses, 7 100lbs curls, and some jump roping. My legs, once again, were way too tired so I did only a few jump ropes, then I stopped.
Finished my gallon of water. Then this evening I did my DDP yoga workout, along with 40 crunches, 6 cross leglifts, and 6 pushups. I followed that with my dumbbell workout. I'm feeling really good! My arms aren't sore like the other day. I'm feeling stronger, especially in my arms. It's an Awesome feeling. Tomorrow I think I'm going to do the same thing as today, then do my last day of the week, Saturday, with my Bowflex workout instead of the outside weights. I'm really planning on mixing it up so I don't get used to just one thing.
One thing I realized today was that this is the first time I'm really getting serious about my Fyrescape. Before, the only focus I had was dropping weight. I went out and did 6 miles, then that was it. I'll admit, when I first started and throughout the summer, I was doing good because my entire day revolved around my 6 miles. Once August came around, I started lagging. By September, my focus was being pulled off because of my Elk Hunt, then with all the work I did at church. By October, then through November and December, even the beginning of January, I was really slacking off. My walk had been cut down to 3 miles. I was just out there strolling too, not power walking like I did all summer long. So that didn't do anything for me, then being as it was the holidays, I was letting my diet slip. Not a good idea! I learned very valuable lessons there.
1.) Don't ever let yourself lose focus on your fitness goals. No matter what, Keep Doing It!
2.) Regardless of how hard it may be, always stick to your diet, even during the holidays.
3.) Don't get lost in drinking Diet soda. Just because it says "diet" doesn't mean it's good for you!
4.) Drink a gallon of water EVERYDAY, at least!
5.) If you feel pain in your knees, Stop and go easy for JUST A SHORT WHILE.
6.) DO NOT BASE YOUR PROGRESS BY THE WEIGH SCALE!
7.) If you keep doing the same thing everyday, your body will get used to it. You need to mix up your workouts and keep your body guessing.
8.) Challenge yourself everyday!
9.) No matter how tired you are, or how sore you are, GET YOUR ASS OUT THERE AND DO IT!
10.) Only take ONE rest day per week. Never take more than that!
Those are some of the most valuable lessons I learned, but I learned them thru mistakes. I would have probably been so much further in my progress if I had known all of that stuff back when I started in April of last year. But I've never done this before! I have never been into fitness like this. I'm learning as I go and recording my mistakes so I know to never do them again in the future. The last and most important lesson I've learned is this:
NO MATTER HOW BAD YOU FEEL, OR HOW LOW YOU FEEL, OR HOW NEGATIVE YOU FEEL...DON'T EVER QUIT! PROGRESS TAKES TIME AND IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW FAST OR SLOW YOU GO, IF YOU KEEP IT UP, YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS! DON'T EVER GIVE UP!!!
