Well today was Aweome!! Lisa found out that she lost about 8 pounds :D That is so Amazing! I'm really glad she's losing weight. The reason she hasn't lost as much as I have is simple, because she hasn't really been pushing herself. Lisa's problem is she wants to lose weight....but she wants it all off right NOW. The whole thought of 'working your ass off for it' is something that really drags her down. She's had that problem for years. I saw that she was walking when I did, yet she did not do as much exercise as I've been doing and sometimes, she'll only walk in the morning, that's it! The other day I had a big talk with her. I was worried about her so I told her that the reason she's not losing very much weight, next to nothing, is because she's not pushing herself. The crazy thing about Lisa is that she can run! She used to run cross-country when she was in school and although she's put on a lot of weight over the years, she still has that running ability. I've always told her over the years, "Dang Lees, if I could run like you, I'd be a fit slim-jim already" lol. Well, anyway that talk we had, I told her that because she can already run, she needs to really push herself. Me, I started from rock-bottom! I need to train my body from the ground up. Right now, I'm slowly working up to running. Once I get down in the two lower 300 or atleast within the 299 pound range, then I'm going to really hit it and start running. By next month, I should be running full time! She, on the other hand, can already run. The problem she has is that she's lazy. I don't want to be harsh, and I'm not. I've told her this and she knows. She's very lazy at times, which is why all these years she hasn't really did anything to lose weight. Well my example is really helping her out. She's exercised longer the time she's been doing it with me, than she's ever done on her own. So, I told her she needs to push herself. Stop acting like she can't do it right now and stop pushing it off until tomorrow. If she wants to get anything out of her body, she needs to put in the work to get it out! I told her "Everyday! Do it Everyday, No Excuses! Push yourself to get it done, then do some more, then the next day, Repeat it and Do More!" She finally got the message! She's been running, pushing herself and challenging herself. She's also picked up DDPyoga again. I'm so proud of her. She says her legs feel great, as well as her hips. She's excited for doing it again everyday! She saw that she lost 8 pounds and she's very excited. I said to her, "I told you! Just keep it up every single day!"
Anyway, this morning I did 2 1/2 miles. I put a bit of running in there as well. Drank lots of water. On my walk in the morning, there's this dude that comes around in a truck. I finally met him today. He's an oilfield worker, I believe. There are these oil pumps down by the ditch where I walk so during the week, there's always somebody that drives down there to monitor them. Anyway, the guy that usually goes down there is a really nice dude. I first met him sometime at the beginning of my walks after April 29th. He pulled up beside me one day and handed me a bottle of water. He said, "here ya go buddy, I thought you could use this." I was so thankful and from that day on, whenever he sees me or Lisa, he stops by and gives us a bottle of water each. I met him today finally, he was standing outside his truck as I was walking by. He came running over with a bottle of water and handed me one. He finally met Cody also. Cody went sniffing his hand and being curious as always. He told me his name was, Gene, I believe. I told him my name and we shook hands. He had to get back to work so he wished me a good day then headed out. It's so nice to see ppl like that! God puts really nice ppl in this world. It's not all black and dark, like a lot of ppl try to only focus on, there's so much light in this world. You just have to really open your eyes and have faith to see it!
So after I got back from my walk, Lisa went off on hers. She was helping my grandma this morning so she didn't go with me. Jayde, our little Chihuahua went with her. I kept Cody home with me since he'd already went out. He tends to get naughty when he's out in the sun too long, then he runs off and don't listen. Anyway, so while she was out, I worked on her car. I mentioned yesterday that I bought her a bypass hose for her car. The other one ruptured and antifreeze was spewing out all over the place. I got that thing replaced. Just before I was done, Lisa came back early. She said Jayde ran off from her LOL. She was pissed off. She had to stop her run and go look for her but couldn't find her. So, we hoped in my truck and cruised down to the ditch road looking and calling for Jayde, but No Dice! We pretty much gave her up for lost. We figured she was either going to get swooped up by a hawk because she's so tiny, or she'll get killed by coyotes or someone would steal her if they saw her. So we drove around all over, but still nothing. Finally we went home. Soon as we pull into the place, there she was sitting on the front porch lol. How the heck she got home from way out there, by herself, was unknown to us. We were surprised. Lisa gets out and picks her up, babies her a bit, then Jayde got all happy knowing we weren't mad at her. That was the crazy part of the day! Afterwards, Lisa helped me with the car. As I mentioned yesterday, her car engine is very compact so it was hard for me to screw the clamps onto that hose. My hands were too big to fit underneath and give me enough room to grip my tools. She got her hands in there pretty easily but it was frustrating because she didn't know what to do hahaha. Anyway, we got it tightened. She helped me clean out her engine. Oh man, she needs an air filter really bad. Hers is so dirty, I couldn't believe it. That's what I'll need to get her soon. So, after it was all put together, I had her fire up the car and it started right up. Let all that new antifreeze stream thru the engine. NO LEAKS!!!! Woohoo!!! I am Amazing ;} After that, I fixed her windshield wipers. The one on the passenger side did not work. Now, they're both working perfectly. She just needs new windshield wipers now lol.
After working on the car, we came inside and fired up the A/C. I did a good workout on the Bowflex. I did a set of 20 for each workout. That really did a number on my arms and chest. After that, I jumped on the exercise bike, the one my grandpa gave me. If you remember, when I first got that thing, I could only do it for about a minute and my arms and legs would cramp up. It's one of those bikes that have handles that move back n forth along with the pedaling. Anyway, I got on it today and I worked it hard for a solid 11 minutes. I burned off 155 calories, according to the monitor on the bike. Oh man did it kick my ass though. When I got off that bike, my legs felt like cement. I was gone lol. Great workout though. Lisa did DDPyoga while I did my workout.
This evening, Lisa did her run. She is now timing herself to see how fast she can get it done. She's running 1 mile in 14 minutes. That's her speed right now. I wanted to run a little but dammit, when I got down to the ditch this afternoon, I got stomach problems lol. It was pretty bad, so I ended up turning around and heading home. Emergency, if you know what I mean. So, that was my walk for the evening. Did about a 1/2 mile that's it. I don't feel too bad though because of that workout from earlier. I really pushed it. After I got home and did my business, I got in the truck and drove down the ditch road because Lisa would've been expecting to meet me on her way back. I saw her and Cody and drove over to them. She's all surprised wondering what the hell happened to me lol. I told her the story and she gets in. She did her mile and went ahead and caught a ride back because it was really hot out. Cody was looking up at us. I was actually measuring the distance we walk with my truck, just to make sure it was still a solid 2 1/2 miles. So after picking her up, I kept driving to the end of our trail. I called Cody and he ran next to me. By the time we got to the end, it measured exactly 1 1/4 mile. So I turned around, then I called Cody and it was funny because he jumped up on the window like he was saying, "PLEASE LET ME IN IT'S SO HOT!!!!" hahaha so I told Lisa to put him in the back. She got in the back and called him and he jumped in. He looked so relieved. I turned the truck around and kept measuring the distance. All the way back to my front gate measured exactly 2 1/2 miles, so yup, same distance. We tied Cody up then I wanted to measure this big loop that is in front of where my mom and dad live. They live about a mile west of me. They have this big loop in front of their house which connects to the ditch road that I go walking on. I used to run that loop. It's pretty big and I just wanted to measure it so I'll know the distance when I start running. Once I pick that up, I'll be running on that loop again, rather than going down on the ditch road. So we drove over there and I started the odometer. Going around that loop 3 times measures exactly 1 mile. So that was very interesting! I know now that 3 loops is a mile so I'll keep that in mind once I start running. Lisa is going to run that loop tomorrow, instead of going down to the ditch road. I'm looking forward to running again. It'll bring back many great memories ;}
Afterwards, we went home and cleaned up then we went to church. Great meeting with all our members. I love seeing all of them. Wonderful church family, we have. Came home and had salad and eggs for dinner. I was totally tuckered out by 11pm. Cody was sound asleep by then too lol. All in all, it was a busy and fulfilling day. Got a lot done. Looking forward to tomorrow! Goodnight.
